St Andrew’s Remembrance Assembly

Poppy clipart, Poppy Transparent FREE for download on WebStockReview 2025

Today, we came together for a special Remembrance Assembly to honour and reflect upon the bravery and sacrifice of those who gave their tomorrows for our today. The Year 5 children read thoughtful poems, sang songs and shared the names of local scholars who lost their lives in the Great War (1914–1918). Both pupils, staff, parents and the wider community joined in a moment of silence to pay their respects.
Lest we forget.

Our Very First Values Champions Tea Party
Celebrating Perseverance

This week, pupils from Reception to Year 5 were invited by Mr Turvey to our very first Values Champions Tea Party to celebrate their achievement in being chosen as their class’s Perseverance Champion. They were joined by Miss Handley, Mrs Heydon and Mrs Mathers.

Each half-term, we will be recognising pupils who demonstrate our school values, and today we celebrated those who have shown outstanding perseverance by never giving up and always trying their best, even when faced with challenges.

The children enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea filled with cakes, biscuits, hot chocolate and juice, while sharing stories of their hard work and determination. It was a wonderful opportunity for staff to congratulate these pupils and acknowledge their positive attitude and resilience.

Well done to all our Perseverance Champions - you truly set a shining example for everyone at St Andrew’s!

So Much Fun in the Forest!

We had a fantastic time around the campfire this week! The children helped to make delicious porridge, carefully stirring the oats as they cooked over the flames. Once it was ready, everyone enjoyed tasting their warm, creamy porridge.  Some children even said it was “just right!” To make the experience even more special, we shared the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears together. The children joined in with the story, pretending to be the bears and acting out their favourite parts. It was a wonderful mix of storytelling, cooking, and outdoor fun!

This week at Forest School, Apples enjoyed some sparkly fun as they celebrated Bonfire Night. The children were excited to have the opportunity to safely hold a sparkler and watch it glow and sparkle.

St Andrew's is a no mobile phone site. Pupils should not have or have access to a mobile device whilst they are in school. If a child requires a mobile phone to travel to school and home, these should be handed in to their teacher in the morning and collected at home time. If pupils are seen with mobile devices in school, have them out whilst walking through the school (to or from their classroom), or we are aware that these are in their bags, they will be confiscated and taken to the office. In this circumstance, we will require a parent or carer to come and collect the device.
