Friday’s Assembly

Today’s assembly was a joyful celebration of our pupils’ many achievements. We were delighted to recognise children from across the school who received class awards, praising their hard work, positive attitudes and commitment to learning.

We also proudly presented certificates for achievements beyond the classroom, including successes in swimming, karate and dance. These accomplishments highlight the wide range of talents and interests within our school community, and it is always wonderful to see how pupils carry the values they learn in school into their activities outside of it.

A special congratulations to four pupils who received their Platinum Times certificates, which is a fantastic achievement reflecting their determination and effort.

We also said goodbye to Miss Eustace, who is leaving to take up a new teaching position. We thanked her for her dedication to the school and wished her the very best of luck in her new role.

Year 5's Crime and Punishment

PCSOs Kin and Luke paid an exciting visit to Year 5 this week as part of our Crime and Punishment topic. They spoke about the important role PCSOs play in keeping our community safe, from supporting local residents to helping prevent crime.

Year 5 had plenty of thoughtful questions, and the officers were impressed by how curious and engaged everyone was. The highlight for many was getting a close-up look at the police van, which certainly sparked even more discussion.

A special well done goes to our Community Leaders, who asked insightful questions about crime in the Hampton area and explored ways young people can make a positive difference every day. Their maturity and enthusiasm showed exactly what active citizenship looks like.

This Week in Apples

This week, the children have been learning all about firefighters. They explored yellow jelly with red beads and glitter, developing their sensory and fine motor skills. At the EAD table, they used a variety of tools to create patterns in paint, experimenting with texture and design. Some of the children enjoyed the challenge of threading bobbins onto string, while Niko carefully sorted the vehicles onto the correct coloured plates.

Outdoors, the children had great fun dressing up as firefighters and using the pretend hose to put out the fire, bringing their learning to life through imaginative play. 🚒🔥

Year 3's Investigate

This week, Year 3 carried out an investigation to explore how absorbent different types of soil are. They tested clay, peat, chalky and sandy soils, and discovered that peat was the most absorbent.

To ensure it was a fair test, the children used the same equipment for each soil type, including identical filter paper, scales and measuring cylinders. They also carefully poured the same amount of water onto each sample, so the results were accurate and could be compared reliably.
