World Book Day at St Andrew’s CE School and Nursery 📚
St Andrew’s CE School and Nursery was filled with creativity, colour and imagination as we celebrated World Book Day in a slightly different way this year. Instead of dressing as their favourite book characters, children and staff came to school dressed as adjectives!
It was wonderful to see such a fantastic range of ideas across the school. We spotted sparkly, ancient, brave and sleepy costumes, to name just a few, and it was clear that everyone had put a lot of thought and imagination into bringing their chosen word to life.
Throughout the day, children took part in a range of reading and storytelling activities, celebrating the joy of books and the power of words. The adjective theme also sparked lots of great conversations about vocabulary and how descriptive words can make our writing more interesting and engaging.
As part of the celebration, we also held a book swap, where children had the opportunity to bring in a book from home and exchange it for a different one. This was a lovely way to share stories with one another and encourage even more reading at home.
One of the highlights of the day was when the older children spent time reading with the younger children, sharing their favourite stories and enjoying books together. It was wonderful to see pupils supporting one another and developing a love of reading across the school.
A huge thank you to families for supporting the day and helping the children create such imaginative outfits. It was a wonderful way to celebrate reading and language together as a school community.
