Celebrating Success in Assembly

Today’s assembly was a joyful occasion, recognising the many accomplishments of pupils throughout the school. Children from every class were presented with awards, celebrating their effort, enthusiasm and commitment to their learning.

We were also delighted to acknowledge our Platinum Times Table champions, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and resilience in learning their times tables. Their hard work truly stands out and is worthy of great praise.

Our weekly assemblies continue to showcase the diverse talents within our school community. It is always a pleasure to hear how pupils live out our school values, both in their lessons and in the wider opportunities they embrace beyond the classroom.

Exploring the Meaning of Easter Foods

As part of their RE lessons, 4ET explored the meaning of traditional Easter foods. The children tasted hot cross buns, which symbolise Jesus dying on the cross, and chocolate eggs, which represent new life and the hope of the Easter story.

This Week in Apples

This week, we have been enjoying the story 10 Little Dinosaurs and exploring a range of exciting dinosaur-themed activities.

Indoors, the children took part in colour-sorting dinosaurs on the maths table, using tweezers to help develop their fine motor skills. Our role play area became a dinosaur lookout, where the children loved using binoculars to spot dinosaurs hidden around the room. On the creative table, they printed with dinosaur cutters using paint, while the mark-making area encouraged them to create patterns and marks inspired by dinosaurs.

Outside, the children had great fun in our sensory “dinosaur swamp,” scooping and pouring green slime, as well as exploring the dinosaur world tuff tray. They also used magnetic shapes to create their own dinosaurs, carefully using pictures as a reference and doing a fantastic job.

In our curiosity box, we have been asking, “What do you think will hatch?” The children came up with some imaginative ideas, including a unicorn, a raptor and even a sea monster!

During forest school, we made eggy bread. The children learnt where eggs come from and observed how they change colour when whisked. Everyone did a brilliant job trying it as a snack.

Fantastic Frogs and Forest Fun!

This half-term, Pears have been learning about frogs and have had a wonderful time! Counting frogs, matching colours, exploring frog spawn and searching for the colour green in the forest.

Also in Pears, they have been exploring all things ladybirds! The children enjoyed searching for them in the forest, counting their spots using an interactive game, and getting creative by making their own ladybirds throughout the week.
