🌳✨ A Magical Visit from The Gruffalo and Mouse! ✨🌳

Our Gruffalo Forest School Gathering was nothing short of incredible! Families joined us for a truly memorable afternoon of woodland adventure, creativity and fun, making it one of our most magical Forest School events yet.

The excitement reached new heights when The Gruffalo and Mouse made a special appearance in the forest! The children were absolutely thrilled to meet the much-loved story characters, giving them hugs, sharing high-fives and posing for photographs. Seeing the children's faces light up as they came face to face with The Gruffalo and Mouse was a wonderful moment that brought the story to life in the most magical way.

Throughout the afternoon, our little explorers ventured into the woodland on a Gruffalo-themed clue hunt, searching for hidden treasures and solving exciting challenges along the way. They showed fantastic teamwork, perseverance and enthusiasm as they explored every corner of the forest.

The children also enjoyed creating beautiful woodland crafts using natural materials they found around the site. Their creativity shone through, and it was wonderful to see so many unique creations being proudly taken home.

One of the highlights of the day was gathering around the campfire to toast marshmallows and make delicious s'mores. The children loved carefully roasting their marshmallows over the fire before sandwiching them between biscuits and chocolate to create a tasty campfire treat. Sitting together around the fire, sharing stories and enjoying snacks, created a real sense of community and made the afternoon even more special.

It was fantastic to see families exploring together, making memories and embracing the outdoors. The laughter, excitement and sense of adventure could be felt throughout the woodland, and every child showed confidence, curiosity and resilience as they took on new experiences.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a tremendous success. From hunting for clues and creating woodland crafts to toasting marshmallows around the campfire and meeting The Gruffalo and Mouse, the afternoon was filled with unforgettable moments.

The Gruffalo may usually live deep in the dark wood, but for one magical afternoon he, Mouse and a whole forest full of explorers created memories that will last a lifetime! 🍂🐭🌲🔥💚

Achievement Assembly

This week’s Achievement Assembly provided a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many successes of our pupils. Throughout the week, children across the school have demonstrated excellent effort, resilience and a positive attitude towards their learning, making us extremely proud of all they have achieved. It was a pleasure to present class awards to pupils from every year group in recognition of their commitment, progress and accomplishments.

The assembly also showcased the diverse talents, strengths and achievements within our school community. We are continually inspired by the enthusiasm, determination and kindness our pupils show each day. Congratulations to all of this week’s award winners, and a huge well done to every child for their hard work, perseverance and valuable contribution to school life.

Author Visit Inspires KS2 Pupils

This week, we were delighted to welcome former Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho to school for a special assembly with our Key Stage 2 pupils. Joseph shared his passion for poetry, reading and storytelling, inspiring children with his creativity, enthusiasm and love of books.

As part of the visit, every KS2 pupil was gifted a copy of Joseph’s book, Rapunzel is a Lettuce. This was a wonderful opportunity for children to take home a book by an acclaimed author and continue enjoying reading beyond the school day.

To make the experience even more memorable, Joseph kindly signed every child’s copy of the book. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and were excited to receive their personally signed books.

We would like to thank Joseph for such an engaging and inspiring visit. It was a fantastic experience that encouraged our children to celebrate reading, writing and the power of imagination.

So Much Fun in Apples!

This week in Apples, we have been reading Whoever You Are and exploring the similarities and differences within our families. The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing information about the special people in their lives and looking through family photographs. These activities sparked lots of meaningful discussions about our families, our homes, and the things that are important to us.

We also had our first Forest School session of the year, and the children absolutely loved it! We began by playing 1, 2, 3, Where Are You? before collecting plenty of snappy sticks for our fire. We introduced our Forest School rules to the new children and reminded returning children of them, discussing how to stay safe while exploring the forest environment.

The children demonstrated excellent listening skills as they enjoyed hot chocolate and chocolate biscuits for their snack. Afterwards, they had the opportunity to explore the forest independently. Oliver and Eleonora showed fantastic teamwork and encouraged one another as they crossed the bridge. The children embraced new challenges with enthusiasm, and it was wonderful to see everyone having a go at climbing trees, using the ladder, and enjoying the swing. Their confidence, resilience, and adventurous spirit were lovely to see.

A Very Busy Week for Pears!

Pears have had a busy week learning about one another and exploring different types of homes. The children also thoroughly enjoyed their first Forest School session of the year, where they had the opportunity to explore the outdoor environment, develop their curiosity, and build confidence through nature-based activities. They enjoyed discovering the natural world around them, working together with their friends, and developing important skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. It was a wonderful start to our Forest School adventures this year!

Thank You to Vandemoortele

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Vandemoortele for their generous donation of several boxes of delicious pastries for our recent St Andrew’s CE School and Nursery Fete.

The pastries were enjoyed by pupils, families, staff, and visitors throughout the day and were a wonderful addition to the event. Their contribution helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making the fete even more special for everyone who attended.

Community support plays a vital role in the success of our fundraising events, and we are incredibly grateful for Vandemoortele’s kindness and generosity. The fete was a fantastic occasion that brought our school community together, and their donation made a significant contribution to its success.
