Awards, Achievements and New Responsibilities

This week’s Achievement Assembly was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the many successes and accomplishments of our pupils. Throughout the week, children across the school have demonstrated excellent effort, resilience and enthusiasm in their learning, making us incredibly proud of all they have achieved. It was a pleasure to present class awards to pupils from every year group in recognition of their hard work, progress and positive contributions to school life.

We were also delighted to celebrate our newly appointed House Captains, Eco Club members and Crew Club representatives, who proudly received their badges during the assembly. These badges recognise their important roles within our school community, and we know they will wear them with pride as they lead by example and support others throughout the year.

Adding to the excitement, pupils took part in our highly anticipated House Tug of War competition. The event showcased fantastic teamwork, determination and house spirit from all participants, and congratulations go to Ash House, who emerged victorious and were crowned this year’s House Tug of War champions.

The assembly highlighted the many talents, strengths and achievements of our children, showcasing the kindness, determination and positive attitudes that make our school such a special place. Congratulations to all of this week’s award winners, and a huge well done to every child for their dedication, perseverance and commitment to making St Andrew’s a wonderful community in which to learn and grow.

This week in Apples, we have been learning all about our homes, inspired by our story of the week, Two Homes. The children have enjoyed a range of activities linked to this theme.

Outdoors, the children have been busy becoming builders, using the large foam blocks to construct houses and working together to create different structures. They have also enjoyed using tools to repair and fix various items around the garden, developing their problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Inside the classroom, the children have used Duplo bricks for construction activities and explored printing techniques using paint and different materials. Families have kindly sent in photographs of their children outside their homes, providing a wonderful opportunity for the children to share and talk about where they live. These discussions have been excellent for developing the children's oracy skills, building their confidence in speaking, listening and communicating with their peers. Overall, it has been a fantastic week of learning, exploration and conversation.

Forest School Fun for 5MS!

5MS enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the forest last week, where they discovered that a number of ‘space meteorites’ had crash-landed at St Andrew’s.

Working together as a team, the children used their creativity and problem-solving skills to safely collect the meteorites and transport them back to base camp. As the space debris was considered too dangerous to touch with bare hands, the children had to think carefully about how they could complete the challenge safely!

It was fantastic to see 5MS demonstrating such excellent teamwork, cooperation and enthusiasm throughout the afternoon. Well done, 5MS, for working so brilliantly together and having so much fun together!

We Will Remember Them

As part of our Remembrance commemorations this year, St Andrew’s Year 5 pupils will be undertaking a project about some of the men commemorated on the Great Hampton Parochial School Memorial Board and the Hampton War Memorial. The individuals we are focusing on are Arthur Abbotts, Thomas Abbotts, William Buttle, Ralph Cook, Percy Enstone, Harry Jervis, John Malin, Thomas Malin, William Stratford and Frederick Welland.

If anyone has any information or photographs relating to any of these men and would be willing to share them with the school for this project, please get in touch. Your support would be greatly appreciated as we work to preserve and celebrate their memories and ensure that their stories continue to be remembered by future generations.

🌻 Growing Together in Pears 🌻

This week in Pears, we have been learning all about growth and how living things change over time. We discovered that plants, animals and people all grow and develop in different ways. The children enjoyed planting flowers and are looking forward to caring for them and watching them grow bigger and stronger over the coming weeks. We also spent time looking at baby photographs of our friends and talking about how much we have changed since we were babies. It was wonderful to hear the children sharing their observations and celebrating how they have grown and learnt new skills. 🌱
