St Andrew’s Remembrance Assembly

Poppy clipart, Poppy Transparent FREE for download on WebStockReview 2025

Today, we came together for a special Remembrance Assembly to honour and reflect upon the bravery and sacrifice of those who gave their tomorrows for our today. The Year 5 children read thoughtful poems, sang songs and shared the names of local scholars who lost their lives in the Great War (1914–1918). Pupils, staff, parents and the wider community joined in a moment of silence to pay
their respects.

Lest we forget.

We would also like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Karen Hunter for her time, dedication, research and wealth of knowledge in gathering and compiling information about local war veterans. Her invaluable contribution helped bring their stories to life and ensured their service and sacrifice were remembered and honoured by our school community.

Values Champions Tea Party – Thankfulness

Today, our Values Champions were invited to a special Tea Party to celebrate the value of Thankfulness. The children enjoyed spending time together while sharing delicious biscuits, fruit, cake, and hot chocolate. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise those who consistently show appreciation for others and demonstrate gratitude in their daily actions. We are incredibly proud of our Values Champions and the positive example they set for everyone in our school. Well done!

πŸ”₯ Forest School Fun! πŸ”₯

Yesterday in the forest we celebrated the 5th November with a fire. The children enjoyed sitting around the fire and learning about how we can stay safe near flames.

We also had the opportunity to light and hold sparklers. The children carefully practised holding their sparklers safely and enjoyed making big circles, zig-zags, and other patterns in the air while watching the sparkles.

It was a wonderful experience that encouraged confidence, listening skills, and an understanding of fire safety. The children had lots of fun and enjoyed this special Bonfire Night celebration!
