House System
Our house system seeks to deepen our children's understanding of our school values, but also bring enrichment. Our children feel a strong sense of belonging to our school, but in their houses they are also part of something bigger than themselves. They learn to strategise and collaborate through our wide range of house events. They learn the lessons of triumph and defeat.
All dojos that children earn are converted into house points and contribute towards the house cup which is awarded to the leading house each half-term.
Each year, we see the strengths and skills that each house possesses. Children are assigned a house in nursery or reception and remain with that group until they leave the school. Siblings and family members often find themselves assigned to the same house, but this is not a rule. Their individual characters may align them more closely to an alternative. Throughout the year children compete in the following:
- Tug of war
- Photography competition
- Poetry competition
- Art/colouring or drawing competition
- Pancake races
- Easter egg hunt
- Ocean's Day/Litter picking
- Sports Day
- Maths problem solving escape rooms
Each year we mix up house events and are always looking to add new additions to make these events exciting and meaningful.
