Pupil leadership
Our children are central to our school's future. They are the school and we want them to have a voice, find belonging and feel a sense of ownership over all aspects of school life. When pupils are empowered, great success has been achieved in our school and pupils feel confident and motivated.
Leadership is encouraged for all of our pupils. We seek for our children to live by our school values as we believe these values will prepare them for the future and help them to find fulfilment in their lives.
During a child's time, there are a number of opportunities to get involved in more formal leadership opportunities.
Year 5 pupils laid a wreath at the war memorial in Evesham's remembrance parade November 2024.
Pupil parliament
A child is elected from each class (reception to year 4) and four pupils from year 5 to be representatives on the Pupil Parliament. The year five members regularly visit the other leadership committees and report back to the whole Pupil Parliament once per term. Pupil parliament will provide feedback on what pupils in tri classes want to happen. The pupil Parliament is run by Miss Handley and Mrs Tsang
ECO committee
Our ECO committee drive to make our school more environmentally sustainable and to make a positive impact on the environment through active involvement and teaching others about how a difference can be made. They provide support and advice to Miss Jones, Mr Turvey and Mrs Bolton, who make up the school's sustainability committee and produce the school's sustainability action plan. They work together to ensure our school follows our stated eco-code:
At our school, we care for the Earth and all living things. We promise to:
- Tidy Up Together: We will keep our school and local area clean by picking up litter, using bins properly, and reducing waste.
- Boost Biodiversity: We will protect and support wildlife by planting flowers, building habitats, and learning about nature.
- Grow Green Grounds: We will look after our school grounds by planting trees and creating peaceful, green spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Together, we make a difference — for our school, our community, and our planet! 💚
CREW group
CREW group support whole school Collective Worship and deliver collective worship for our reception and nursery children. They invite all to collective worship by saying the candle lighting prayer. They act out stories from The Bible during our Open the Book collective worship. Our CREW group also represent our school in church services at St Andrew's Church. Mis Eustace oversees the CREW group who meet regularly each term.
Community leaders
As part of the Community leadership group, pupils will take an active role in strengthening the school’s connection with the wider community. They will help organise and promote local events, lead fundraising efforts for local charities, and support the work of our church through volunteering and participation in community services. This role will encourage teamwork, responsibility, and compassion, while giving pupils the opportunity to make a meaningful difference beyond the school gates and develop a strong sense of civic pride.
Sports leaders
Sports Leaders help support the promotion of physical activity for our younger pupils by organising activities for them to complete at play times. They also assist in tidying away PE and play equipment and refereeing football matches.
Well-being leaders
In their Wellbeing leadership role, they will act as ambassadors for positive wellbeing across the school. They will help promote kindness, inclusion, and emotional awareness through peer support, leading wellbeing activities, and organising school events. By taking on this responsibility, they will not only support their peers but also develop their own confidence, empathy, and leadership skills, becoming role models for a caring and supportive school community.
Forest School leaders
These leaders, selected from year 5, seek to maximise opportunities for learning in our amazing forest school. They create online content to raise the profile of forest school and support the younger children during their sessions. They support Mr Walton (our forest school lead) in planning and preparing sessions and are invited to attend after school club to help the younger children access and learn to love our forest school.
House Captains
A boy and a girl from each house are elected by their house to become House Captains at the start of the year. These pupils are normally selected from year 5. These pupils work with Mr Turvey to inspire the houses to be their best and to work hard to earn as many dojos and house points as possible. Regular house events take place throughout the year and the house captains plan and arrange their houses to be prepared for these. House captains are model students whose behaviour is exemplary. They will hold the doors for pupils around school and be ambassadors for the school when we are visited during open days, charity trustee visits such as John Martin's Charity or visits from local politicians.
